Rippon
Postcard biodynamic vineyard sloping to Lake Wānaka with the Buchanans behind it.
Why go
Arguably the most beautiful cellar door in the country, with characterful biodynamic wines and that lake-and-mountain backdrop.
Rippon's biodynamic vineyard tumbles down a slope to the shore of Lake Wānaka with the Buchanan Peaks behind — one of the most photographed vineyards in the world. The Mills family have farmed it for generations, making distinctive, lighter-framed Pinot Noir and Riesling, and the cellar door view is the draw as much as the wine.
