Perched on a high headland where the road finally meets the sea, Knights Point Lookout gives a sweeping view along the rugged, surf-battered South Westland coast, with rocky islets offshore and forested cliffs plunging to the Tasman. A small memorial marks the 1965 completion of the highway that finally linked Haast to the north. Fur seals sometimes lounge on the rocks far below.
