The Glenorchy–Queenstown road hugs the northern shore of Lake Wakatipu for ~45 km of constant lake-and-mountain views, widely rated one of New Zealand's finest short drives. Bennetts Bluff Lookout is the signature pull-off, gazing over the lake to the peaks around Glenorchy and the gateway to Paradise and the Routeburn.
