Bannockburn Wineries

Sun-baked sub-region of top Central Otago Pinot Noir cellar doors.

Why go

The most concentrated collection of top Central Otago Pinot producers — serious wine in a striking dry-country setting.

Bannockburn, across the river from Cromwell, is the warm, dry, schist-soiled heart of Central Otago Pinot Noir, with a cluster of highly regarded cellar doors — names like Felton Road, Carrick and Mt Difficulty — within a few minutes of each other. The 'sun-baked' sluiced gold-mining landscape adds to the appeal.
